Matter has been classified into three groups from the point of view of transformation, viz. prayogapariņatapudgala (organic matter), miśrapariņatapudgala (organic-cum-inorganic matter), and visrasāparinatapudgala (inorganic matter).2 The material substances that are produced by the living organism, vegatables or animals are classified as prayogapariñatapudgala (organic matter) and all those material substances which are not prepared from the living organism but from the inanimate objects by the natural innate disposition are classified as visrasāpariņatapudgalas ( inorganic matters ) and all material substances that are the synthetic products of these two processes-vital force and natural force are classified as miśra-pariñata-pudgalas (matters produced by the mixed processes).
