It is beyond doubt that the editor, Shri Bhavadatta Shastri utilized the copy of manuscript which also contained the marginal notes too. It is elear too that the learned pundit did know that some of the marginal notes were textual additions while some of them were explanatory notes; for the explanatory notes given in the footnotes in the TM(N) are really the marginal notes given in the ms! When Shri Bhavadatta Shasti claims the explanatory footnotes to be his own10 it is a clear case of editorial plagiarism. Moreover, upto page 273 the footnotes are very few and far between and without any remarks, while from p. 274 onwards the editor has started suggesting them as textual emedations ! Upto p. 273 many of the explanatory notes have been incorporated in the body of the text of the TM itself. From p. 274 onwards the marginal notes are being assigned this dual role ! Evidently there is a change of horse in the midstream and the editorship of the text seems to have passed from Shri Bhavadatta Shastri to Shri K. P. Parab.
(B) In the TM(P) :
The editors of the TM(P) seem to have had better facilites at their command in the form of two printed editions, a fairly good copy of some ms., a copy of the 10. Cr TM(N), Editor's Introduction. p. 12 : 'asmat-krta-tippanyam ca, etc.'
