[The relevant expression is -"popphalikamtha"- 'voice like the areca nut. The variant readings in MB manuscripts is “Kokila-kamtha" and in P manuscript "kakilikamtha"- 'voice like the Cuckoo'. The variant readings appear to be more appropriate in the context. Compare PSM. popphalī= pūga phalı, 'areca nut tree' (H.1 170); cf. popphali- occurring in this sense in PC.I. þupphalı in PC.
