__ पुष्कराद्धे च ॥34॥ __8432. किम् । द्विरित्यनुवर्तते। किमपेक्षा द्विरावृत्तिः ? जम्बूदीपभरतहिमववाद्यपेक्षयेव । कुतः ? व्याख्यानतः । यथा धातकीखण्डे हिमवदादीनां विष्कम्भस्तथा पुष्कराः हिमवदादीनां विष्कम्भो द्विगुण इति व्याख्यायते । नामानि तान्येव, इष्वाकारी मन्दरौ च पूर्ववत् । यत्र' जम्बूवृक्षस्तत्र पुष्करं सपरिवारम् । तत एव तस्य द्वीपस्य नाम रूढं पुष्करद्वीप इति । अथ कथं पुष्कराद्धसंज्ञा । मानुषोत्तरशैलेन विभक्तार्थत्वात्पुष्कराधसंज्ञा।
8433. अत्राह किमर्थं जम्बूद्वीपहिमवदादिसंख्या द्विरावृत्ता पुष्कराचे कथ्यते, न पुनः कृत्स्न एव पुष्करद्वीपे । इत्यत्रोच्यते--
प्राङ्मानुषोत्तरान्मनुष्याः ॥35॥ 8434. पुष्करद्वीपबहुमध्यदेशभागी वलयवृत्तो मानुषोत्तरो नाम शैलः । तस्मात्प्रागेव मनुष्या न बहिरिति । ततो न बहिः पूर्वोक्तक्षेत्रविभागोऽस्ति । नास्मादुत्तरं कदाचिदपि विद्याधरा दिया हो और जिसका विस्तार आठ लाख योजन है । कालोदको घेरे हुए पुष्करद्वीप है जिसका विस्तार सोलह लाख योजन है।
8431. द्वीप और समुद्रोंका उत्तरोत्तर जिस प्रकार दूना दूना विस्तार बतलाया है उसी प्रकार यहाँ धातकीखण्ड द्वीपके क्षेत्र आदिकी संख्या दूनी प्राप्त होती है अतः विशेष निश्चय करनेके लिए आगेका सूत्र कहते हैं
पुष्कराधमें उतने ही क्षेत्र और पर्वत हैं ॥34॥
8 432. यहाँ 'द्वि' इस पदकी अनुवृत्ति होती है। शंका–'हि' इस पदकी किसकी अपेक्षा अनुवृत्ति होती है ? समाधान-जम्बूद्वीपके भरत आदि क्षेत्र और हिमवान् आदि पर्वतोंकी अपेक्षा 'द्विः' इस पदको अनुवृत्ति होती है । शंका-यह कैसे समझा जाता है ? समाधानव्याख्यानसे । जिस प्रकार धातकीखण्ड द्वीपमें हिमवान् आदिका विस्तार कहा है उसी प्रकार पुष्करार्धमें हिमवान् आदिका विस्तार दूना बतलाया है । नाम वे ही हैं । दो इष्वाकार और दो मन्दर पर्वत पहलेके समान जानना चाहिए। जहाँ पर जम्बूद्वीप में जम्बूवृक्ष हैं पुष्कर द्वीपमें वहाँ अपने परिवार वृक्षोंके साथ पुष्करवृक्ष हैं। इसीलिए इस द्वीपका पुष्करद्वीप यह नाम रूढ़ हुआ है । शंका-इस द्वीपको पुष्करार्ध यह संज्ञा कैसे प्राप्त हुई ? समाधान मानुषोत्तर पर्वतके कारण इस द्वीपके दो विभाग हो गये हैं अत: आधे द्वीपको पुष्करार्ध यह संज्ञा प्राप्त हुई।
8433. यहाँ शंकाकारका कहना है कि जम्बूद्वीपमें हिमवान् आदिकी जो संख्या हैं उससे हिमवान् आदिकी दूनी संख्या आधे पुष्करद्वीपमें क्यों कही जाती है पूरे पुष्कर द्वीपमें क्यों नहीं कही जाती ? अब इस शंकाका समाधान करनेके लिए आगेका सूत्र कहते हैं
मानुषोत्तर पर्वतके पहले तक ही मनुष्य हैं ॥35॥
8434. पुष्करद्वीपके ठीक मध्यमें चूड़ीके समान गोल मानुषोत्तर नामका पर्वत है। उससे पहले ही मनुष्य हैं, उसके बाहर नहीं । इसलिए मानुषोत्तर पर्वतके बाहर पूर्वोक्त क्षेत्रों1. -पेक्षयव । जम्बूद्वीपात्पुष्करार्धे द्वौ भरतो द्वौ हिमवन्ती, इत्यादि । कुतः मु., दि. 1, दि. 2, आ. । 2. पत्र जम्बूद्वीपे जम्बू- मु., कि., दि. 2, आ.। 3. तस्य द्वीपस्यानुरुढं पुष्करदीप इति नाम । अब मु.।

[3134 The circumference of the Kalodaka is 431,000 yojanas. The Pushkaradvipa, surrounded by the Kalodaka, has a circumference of 1,600,000 yojanas. 8431. In this context, the size of the Dvipa and the oceans is doubled progressively. Similarly, the size of the Dhataki-khanda, the Dvipa, and other regions is doubled. To clarify this, the following sutra is stated:
"There are the same number of regions and mountains in Pushkarardha." ||34||
8432. Here, the word "dvi" is repeated. Question: To what is this repetition of "dvi" referring? Answer: It is referring to the Jambudvipa, Bharata, Himavan, and other regions and mountains. Question: How is this understood? Answer: From the explanation. Just as the size of the Himavan and other mountains in the Dhataki-khanda is stated, so too is the size of the Himavan and other mountains in Pushkarardha doubled. The names are the same. There are two Isvakara and two Mandara mountains, as before. Where there is the Jambudvipa, there is the Pushkaradvipa with its family of trees. Therefore, the name of this Dvipa is established as Pushkaradvipa. Question: How did this Dvipa get the name Pushkarardha?
