GENERAL EDITORS' FOREWORD
The Prakrit Text Society has great pleasure in bringing out the Jayava-kamḍa (Yādava-kāṁḍa) as Part I of Svayambhudeva's Riṭṭhaṇemicariya (AriṣṭanemiCarita) or Harivaṁsapurāṇa (Harivaṁśapurāṇa) edited by Prof. Ramsinh Tomar. In the Foreword to Part II (1) published a few months back we had expressed our intention to publish the Hindi translation of the Kurukāṇḍa as the follow-up volume. But in view of long delay likely to be involved in the printing work, we have decided to publish in the first instance the entire text of the Ritthanemicariya, and then publish a volume containing the Introduction and the Hindi translation of the whole work by Prof. Tomar. The printing of the text of the Jujjha-kamḍa (Yuddhakāṇḍa) is under way and we hope to bring out a convenient section shortly. It is hoped the survey of the Kṛṣṇa-katha in Apabhramsa literature, prefacing the presented text, will be useful to the students of the subject.
