________________ 136 प्राकृतसर्वस्वम् । मदमूर्खताभिमानी दुष्कुलतैश्वर्यसंपन्नः । सोऽयमनूढाभ्राता राज्ञः श्यालः शकार इत्युक्तः ।। SD III. 53. Similarly the second verse may be compared with the following verse of different source, and it will be seen that in both the cases the corresponding verses bear close resemblance to each other : अपार्थमक्रमं व्यर्थं पुनरुक्तं हतोपमम् । न्यायकार्यादिबाह्यं च शकारवचनं भवेत् ॥ Pu. XII. 14. अपार्थमक्रमं व्यर्थं पुनरुक्तं हतोपमम् । लोकन्यायविरुद्धं च शकारवचनं विदुः ॥ Pr's comm. on Mr. ग्राम्यं निरर्थकमपक्रम विरुद्धं न्यायागमादिविकलं विहतोपमानम् । प्रायः शकारवचनं पुनरुक्तामष्टं दोषाः पदेऽपि गुणतामिह संप्रयान्ति ॥ Rt. II. 3. 9 Unfortunately we do not get such verses characterising the speech and behaviour of Sakāra in NS. Mk might have taken the above quoted verse relating to Sakāra and his speech from some treatise of authors like Kohala. He expressly mentions one such verse as having been said by Bh. But this is not traceable to present NS. 7. Other Untraceable Quotations 70. Apart from all that has been said above, we meet with a number of Pkt quotation in Mk's grammar which are still untraceable.
