HRIMAD was born on Sunday, Kartik Sud Purnima at Vavania Bandar a village in Saurashtra & left mortal cage as a self-realized soul on 19th April, 1901 at Rajkot. His great grand father was aVaishnava-a staunch devotee of Lord Krishna. He used to tell him many mysterious stories of Lord Krishna & of the world. But his mother was bred in Jain religious traditions. Moreover, on going through sacred books of Jains such as Pratikramana Sutra lured him towards Jainism.

Shrimad was a precocious child; started composing poems at the age of 7. He aspired to be a great man of resigned nature. He wanted to excel in whatever he undertook. Three events that were a turning point in his life are as under :

He obtained Jatismarnajnan - the knowledge of his past lives at the age of eight. In 1886 he reached the state of complete detachment & resignation to the mortal body. He possessed the unique mystic powers of clairvoyance, telepathy, mind reading, etc. But became a prodigy with exceptional powers by attending more than 12 activities at a time. These memory facts made him a celebrity.

3. To Gandhiji; he was a friend, a philosopher & a guide. Gandhiji says that most of his lessons on truth & non-violence he learnt from Shrimad from 1891 to 1901. "I have drunk to my hearts' content, the nectar of religion that was offered to me by Shri Raichandbhai."
ETHICAL WRITINGS
He opened the treasures of his mind & hearts by writing poems at the age of eight & he wrote 5000 lines in the first year. In his ninth year he composed Ramayana & Mahabharata in verse form. At the age of 11, he started contributing articles to newspapers & received many prizes for writing competitive essays. At the teader age of 12, his poem "A watch" comprising 300 lines won laurels.
Language, the queen of mind & noble thoughts, has a free flow when curiosity is high, mind is mature with experience & heart itching to communicate ethical principles & practices. Shri Niti Bodhaka is a book of 50 pages written at the age of 15. The contents of the book has relevance for women in particular.
