THE PC. MANUSCRIPTS
Variant readings of the text of Paumacariyam given at the end under Appendix No. 7 are collected from three manuscripts (one palm-leaf manuscript J and two paper manuscripts K and Kh). J is the oldest manuscript and its readings are better than those of the other two. Acceptable readings are printed in heavy type. References given against those readings are explained at the close of Appendix No. 7. The description of the manuscripts utilised is as follows :
1. J-Palm-leaf manuscript from Jaisalamer. It was copied in V.S. 1198 (1141 A.D.)2
2. K-Paper manuscript from Muni Punyavijayaji's Colletion; S.No. 2805; Copied in the later half of the 16th century V. S.
3. Kh-Paper manuscript from Muni Punyavijayaji's Collection, S.No.4178; Copied in 1648 V.S. Both these paper manuscripts have been described under 'Sampadakiya kiñcit' in Part I of this work. There the Serial Number of manuscript K is wrongly mentioned as 2085.
