हरिवंशपुराणे लब्धसंज्ञा समुत्थाय ध्यायन्ती स्वर्गिणं पतिम् । स्नानाशननिवृत्तेच्छा मौनव्रतमशिश्रियत् ॥५४॥ एकान्ते पृष्टया कृच्छ्रात् कथितं च ममानया । पूर्वजन्मनि देवेन सह क्रीडितमात्मनः ॥१५॥ पूर्वप्रच्युतदेवस्य हरिवंशे समुद्भवः। विज्ञातश्चानया देव्या सस्यात् केवलिमाषितात् ॥५६॥ समागमश्च विज्ञातः पत्या हस्तिमयच्छिदा । संवादे चाधुना जाते सा ते वाञ्छति संगमम् ॥५०॥ राज्ञा मद्वचनाज्ज्ञात्वा प्रेषिताहं तवान्तिकम् । सौम्य ! सोमश्रिया सार्क मज वीवाहमङ्गलम् ॥५८॥ इत्यावेदितसंबन्धः स तुष्टोऽन्धकवृष्टिजः । सोमश्रियमुवाहेष्टां सोमदत्ततनूभवाम् ॥५९॥ स्वास्यारविन्दसौगन्ध्यमकरन्दोपयोगिनोः । काले याति सुखे तावत् सोमश्रीवसुदेवयोः ॥६॥ अथ कोऽप्येकदा भर्तुर्भुजपक्षरशायिनीम् । सोमश्रियं श्रियं वारिरहरन्निशि खेचरः ॥६॥ विबुद्धस्तु पतिः पत्नीमपश्यन् परमाकुलः । सोमश्रीः क्व गतासि त्वमेह्येहीति जुहाव ताम् ॥६२॥ वजोऽनन्तरमेषाहमिति दत्वा वचः श्रिताम् । खेटस्वसारमद्राक्षीस्सोमश्रीरूपवर्तिनीम् ॥६३॥ निष्क्रान्तासि बहिः कान्ते किमर्थमिति नोदिता । धर्मशान्त्यर्थमित्याह सोमश्रीरिव सा स्वयम् ॥६४॥ कृतरूपपरावर्तिः शौरिरूपवशीकृता । कन्यामावमुदस्यैनमरीरमदरिस्वसा ।।६५।। नित्यशो भुक्तभोगा च सुप्ते पत्यो स्वपित्यसौ। प्राक प्रबुद्धा करोत्यूरूपादसंवाहनादिकम् ॥६६॥
जाति स्मरणसे यक्त हो गयी और अपने पर्व पतिके प्रेमको प्रकट करती हई मच्छित गयी ॥५३।। जब वह सचेत हुई तो उठकर अपने देव पतिका ध्यान करने लगी और स्नान, भोजन आदिकी इच्छा छोड़ मौन लेकर बैठ गयी ।।५४।। एकान्तमें मैंने उससे पूछा तो उसने बड़ी कठिनाईसे मुझे बताया कि पूर्वजन्ममें मैंने देवके साथ क्रीड़ा की थी, उसने यह भी बताया कि जब मैं देवी थी और वह देव मुझसे पहले ही वहांसे च्युत हो गया तब केवली भगवान् के सत्य कथनसे मुझे मालूम हुआ था कि वह देव हरिवंशमें उत्पन्न हुआ है तथा हाथीके भयको नष्ट करनेवाले उस पतिके साथ मेरा पुनः समागम होगा। इस समय केवली भगवान्का कथन ज्योंका-त्यों मिल गया है अर्थात् जैसा उन्होंने बताया था वैसा ही हुआ है इसलिए वह आपके समागमकी इच्छा करती है ॥५५-५७॥ मेरे कथनसे सब समाचार जानकर राजाने मुझे आपके पास भेजा है इसलिए हे सौम्य ! मेरी यही प्रार्थना है कि आप सोमश्रीके साथ विवाह मंगलको प्राप्त हों ॥५८॥
इस प्रकार पूर्व भवका सम्बन्ध बतलानेपर वसुदेव बहुत ही सन्तुष्ट हुए और उन्होंने राजा सोमदत्तकी पुत्री सोमश्रीके साथ जो कि उनकी पूर्वभवको प्रिय स्त्री थी विवाह कर लिया ॥५९॥ तदनन्तर जब अपने मुख कमलको सुगन्धि और मकरन्दका उपयोग करनेवाले सोमश्री और वसुदेवका काल सुखसे व्यतीत हो रहा था तब एक दिन रात्रिके समय पतिके भुजपंजर में शयन करनेवाली लक्ष्मीके समान सुन्दर सोमश्रीको कोई विद्याधर वैरी हर ले गया ॥६०-६१।। जब वसुदेव जागे तब पत्नीको न देख बहुत व्याकुल हुए और 'हे सोमश्री ! तू कहाँ गयो ? जल्दी आओ, आओ' इस प्रकार उसे पुकारने लगे ॥६२॥ जिस विद्याधरने सोमश्रीका हरण किया था उसकी बहनने वसुदेवके पास आकर सोमश्रीका रूप धारण कर लिया और उनके पुकारते ही कहा कि 'मैं यह तो हूँ' इस प्रकार उत्तर देकर पासमें खड़ी हुई तथा सोमश्रीका रूप धारण करनेवाली विद्याधरकी बहनको वसुदेवने देखा ।।६३।। उसे देखकर कुमारने पूछा कि हे प्रिये ! बाहर किस लिए गयी थीं ? इसके उत्तरमें उसने स्वयं सोमश्रीके समान कहा कि गरमी शान्त करनेके लिए गयी थी ॥६४।। इस प्रकार वसुदेवके रूपसे वशीभूत हुई शत्रुको बहन रूप बदलकर तथा अपना कन्याभाव छोड़कर उनके साथ क्रीड़ा करने लगी ॥६५।। वह प्रतिदिन भोग भोगनेके बाद पति जब सो जाते थे तब सोती थी और उनके पहले ही जागकर जघा तथा पैर आदिका मर्दन करने लगती थी ॥६६॥
