________________ २६० हरिवंशपुराणे वाङ्मात्रेण ततो भूमौ निमग्नः स्फटिकासनः । वसुः पपात पाताले पातकात् पतनं ध्रुवम् ॥१५॥ पातालस्थितकायोऽसौ सप्तमी पृथिवीं गतः । नरके नारको जातो महारौरवनामनि ।।१५२॥ हिंसानन्दमषानन्दरौद्र ध्यानाविलो वसुः । जगाम नरकं रौद्रं रौद्रध्यानं हि दुःखदम् ॥१५३॥ 'प्रत्यक्षं सर्वलोकस्य पाताले पतिते वसौ । तदाकुलः समुत्तस्थौ हा हा धिग्धिगिति ध्वनिः ॥१५॥ लब्धासत्यफलं सद्यो निनिन्दुनृपतिं जनाः । पर्वतं च निराचक्रुः खलीकृत्य खलं पुरात् ॥१५५।। तत्त्ववादिनमक्षुद्रं नारदं जितवादिनम् । कृत्वा ब्रह्मरथारूढं पूजयित्वा जना ययुः ॥१५६॥ पर्वतोऽपि खलीकारं प्राप्य देशान् परिभ्रमन् । दुष्टं द्विष्टं निरैक्षिष्ट महाकाल महासुरम् ॥१५॥ ततस्तस्मै पराभूतिं पराभूतिजुषे पुरा । निवेद्य तेन संयुक्तः कृत्वा हिंसागमं कुधीः ॥१५॥ लोके प्रतारको भूत्वा हिंसायज्ञं प्रदर्शयन् । अरअयजनं मूढं प्राणिहिंसनतत्परम् ॥१५९॥ मत्वा पापोपदेशेन पापशापवशान्मतः । सेवामिव वसोः कुर्वन् पर्वतो नरकेऽपतत् ॥१६॥ स्थापिता वसुराज्येऽष्टी ज्येष्ठानुक्रमशः क्रमात् । स्वल्पैरेव दिनमत्युं सूनवोऽपि वसोर्ययुः ॥१६॥ ततो मृत्युभयात्रस्तः सुवसुः प्रपलायितः । गत्वा नागपुरेऽतिष्ठन्मथुरा बृहद्ध्वजः ॥१६२॥ शार्दूलविक्रीडितम् कष्टं ख्यातिमवाप्य सत्यजनितां पापादधोऽगाद्वसुः पापं पर्वतकोऽभिमानवशगस्तस्यैव पश्चाद् ययौ । युक्त कहा है तथापि पर्वतने जो कहा है वह उपाध्यायके द्वारा कहा हुआ कहा है ।।१५०।। इतना कहते ही वसुका स्फटिकमणिमय आसन पृथिवीमें धंस गया और वह पातालमें जा गिरा सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि पापसे पतन होता ही है ।।१५१॥ जिसका शरीर पातालमें स्थित था ऐसा वसु मरकर सातवीं पृथिवी गया और वहाँ महारौरव नामक नरकमें नारकी हुआ ॥१५२।। हिंसानन्द और मृषानन्द रौद्र ध्यानसे कलुषित हो वसु भयंकर नरकमें गया सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि रौद्रध्यान दुःखदायक होता ही है ।।१५३।। सब लोगोंके समक्ष जब वसु पातालमें चला गया तब सब ओर आकुलतासे भरा हा-हा धिक-धिक शब्द गजने लगा ॥१५४|| जिसे तत्काल ही असत्य बोलनेका फल मिल गया था ऐसे राजा वसुकी सब लोगोंने निन्दा की और दुष्ट पर्वतका तिरस्कार कर उसे नगरसे बाहर निकाल दिया ||१५५॥ तत्त्ववादी, गम्भीर एवं वादियोंको परास्त करनेवाले नारदको लोगोंने ब्रह्म रथपर सवार किया तथा उसका सम्मान कर सब यथास्थान चले गये ॥१५६॥ इधर तिरस्कार पाकर पर्वत भी अनेक देशोंमें परिभ्रमण करता रहा अन्त में उसने द्वेष-पूर्ण दुष्ट महाकाल नामक असुरको देखा ॥१५७।। पूर्व भवमें जिसका तिरस्कार हुआ था ऐसे महाकाल असुरके लिए अपने परभवका समाचार सुनाकर पर्वत उसके साथ मिल गया और दुर्बुद्धिके कारण हिंसापूर्ण शास्त्रकी रचना कर, लोकमें ठगिया बन हिंसापूर्ण यज्ञका प्रदर्शन करता हुआ प्राणिहिंसामें तत्पर मखंजनोंको प्रसन्न करने लगा ॥१५८-१५९।। अन्तमें पापोपदेशके का रूपी शापके वशीभूत होनेसे पर्वत मरा और मरकर वसुकी सेवा करनेके लिए ही मानो नरक गया ॥१६०। मन्त्रियोंने वसुके आठ पुत्रोंको क्रमसे एक दूसरेके बाद उसकी गद्दीपर बैठाया परन्तु वे भी थोड़े ही दिनोंमें मृत्युको प्राप्त हो गये ।।१६१।। तदनन्तर जो दो पुत्र शेष बचे उनमें मृत्युके भयसे भयभीत हो सुवसु तो भागकर नागपुरमें रहने लगा और बृहद्ध्वज मथुरामें जा बसा ॥१६२।। बड़े खेदकी बात है कि एक ओर तो वसु सत्यजनित प्रसिद्धिको पाकर अन्तमें पापके कारण नरक गया और अभिमानके वशीभूत हुआ पर्वत भी उसके पीछे पापपूर्ण नरकको प्राप्त १. खलु म. । २. लब्ध्वा म. । ३. तिरस्कारं। ४. महाकाय -म। ५. प्रदर्शयत् म.। Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
