________________ REALITY 79 Mokșa : That modification of soul which is the cause of the total destruction of karmas is known as bhāva-mokṣa and the actual separation of the karmic matter is called dravya-mokşa. After attaining this stage the soul is never bound again. As Umāsvāti says : A person attains kevala-jñāna (omniscience) when first his mohanīya karma and then his jñānāvaraṇīya, darśanavaraṇīya and antarāya karmas are destroyed. After attaining kevala-jñāna, the cause producing bondage being absent and nirjarā being present, he becomes free from the remaining karmas, i.e., the vedaniya, āyus, nāman and gotra karmas in due course, and thus, being void of all kinds of karmas attains final liberation.' 1.
