Arigaviji is an ancient Prakrit Text relating to prognostication on the basis of bodily signs. The work is of unknown: authorship but was considered to be of high antiquity and great sanctity baring been delivered by Mahavis himsell. its internal evidence points to its having been finally compiled at the end of the Kushan period, about 4th Century A. Präkritapaingalan. is a text on Irakrit wid Apabhrama Metres. It is critically edited with three Sanskrit commentaries on the basis of the two earlier editions and further available manuscript material by Lr. Bholashankar Vya, a distinguished member of the Hindi Department of the banaras Hind: University. He has also added Hindi translation with philological notes and glossary of Brakrit and Apabliransa words.

It gives the lives oí 51 great nen levered by the Jains, viz. 24 Tirthankaras, 12 Chakravartins, Baladevas and 9 Väsudevas.

The Part I of this work ou lakrit metres is published as the Second Volume of the Prakrit Text Scries. Part II contains the editor's comprehensive Introduction dealing with the problems of the Prakrita Paingalari together with a critical and comparative study of the metres that form the subject inatter, as well as, the exact nature of ti:e language of the original text, and also a literary assessment of the portion which the author intended to serve as illustrations to the Matrika and Varnika metres dealt with by him.
