ભૂત માન્યતાઓ અંગે નવેસરથી વિચાર કરવા પડે એવી
સ્થિતિ પેદા થઈ છે.'

આ વૈજ્ઞાનિકે એ જ પુસ્તકમાં આગળ પર જણાવ્યું છે કે—The outstanding achievement of twentieth century physics is not theory of relativity with its wielding together of space and time, of the theory of quantum with its present apparent negation of the laws of causation, of the dissection of the atom with the resultant discovery that things are not what they seem. It is the general recognition that we are not yet in contact with ultimate reality. અર્થાત્ વીસમી સદીના પદા - વિજ્ઞાનના મહાન આવિષ્કાર આકાશ અને કાલને એક કરતાં સાપેક્ષવાદ કે કાર્ય-કારણના સિદ્ધાન્તના ખુલ્લા ઈનકાર કરતા. કવેન્ટમ સિદ્ધાન્ત નથી, તેમજ પરમાણુ—વિભાજન પણ નથી કે જે વસ્તુઓ દેખાય છે એક પ્રકારની અને છે ખીજા પ્રકારની ’ એવું પ્રતિપાદન કરે છે. આ સદીના મહાન અવિષ્કાર તા એ છે કે આપણે અત્યાર સુધી પરમ વાસ્તવિક્તાની પાસે પહોંચ્યા નથી.’
આ શબ્દો સાંભળ્યા પછી ક્યા સુજ્ઞ વિજ્ઞાનમાં આંધળી શ્રદ્ધા રાખવાનું ઉચિત સમજશે ? પક્ષપાતથી ખરાબ વસ્તુ પણ સારી લાગે છે અને
