INTRODUCTION
3. The Katyayana Gotra of Diväkara. the story of his sister being a Jaina nun and the names of his parents are all known only through the Prabhavaka Carita at present, and we have no older evidence to corroborate these statements.
4. As to Citrakuta connected with the life of Divakara, it must be the well-known historical place, the fort of Citor in Mewar. It cannot be the Citrakuta of Ramayana fame that is situated in U. P. What the condition of this Citrakuta, referred to above, was at the time of Divakara can not be ascertained with any historical authenticity. The town of Talarasaka said to be founded by the cowherd boys and the town of Karmara1 in the Gauda country referred to in the Prabha vaka Carita can not be definitely identified with any of the modern towns, and no further information has been available on this point. No Devapala or Vijayavarman who might be pointed out to be the contemporary of Divakara has yet been traced.
5. Nothing can be definitely said about the problems cropping up under this head.
1 The town of Karmara has been referred to in connection with the religious tour of Mahavira. This town must be nearby the village Kunda for it is mentioned that Mahavira reached the town Karmara in the afternoon having started from Kunda on the same day. Vide Acaranga Tika p. 301. Whether this Karmara is identical with Karmara in Gauda country is a point which is worth discussion.
