the real founder of Sunyavāda, it is clear that Siddhasena was influenced by the works of Nagarjuna.
Maitreya, the preceptor, and Asanga, his disciple, are well-known in Bauddha literature, but unfortunately their original works are not available at present. Their translations in Chinese have been discovered recently and Professor Touchi has written something thereupon,1 which if we consider as trustworthy leads to the conclusion that Siddhasena directly or indirectly was influenced in his own works, by the works of these two eminent persons. It becomes clear from the writings of the said professor that the vadas referred to in Dwätrimsikäs have been originally taken from the great works of Maitreya and Asanga. The cleverness and scholarship shown by Siddhasena in discussing this doctrine convinces us that he must have studied the works of these two authors.
Vasu Bandhu: The famous founder of Vijñāna Vāda Acarya Vasu Bandhu had written the work named Vada Vidhi.2 His work in its original form is not now available; but twenty verses which form Vimsika and thirty more forming verses Trimsikä have been discovered recently, and we have studied these verses. The subject matter of these verses is the doctrine of Vijñapti. Perhaps the work Vāda Vidhi influenced
