Munjala as the name of Mülaraja's father. The Kumarapala - prabandha and the Ratnamālā name some of his ancestors as:--Bhūyaḍa - Karṇāditya - Chandraditya - Somaditya - Bhuvanaditya and Raja. The Kumarapalacharita of Jayasimhasūri, however, gives a different account. In the city of Madhupaghna, there was formerly a king named Chulukya. The descendants of this king were known as Chalukyas. Among his descendants there was one Sahajarāma who had a cavalry-force of three lacs of horses, and who defeated the lord of Sakas on the battle - field. This Sahajarāma had a son named Daḍakka or Danḍakka who got a victory over the king of Pipāsā. This Daḍakka had a son named Kanchivуala who had a son named Rāji who was the father of Mūlarāja. Thus Kanchivyala was the name of the grand - father of Mularāja. Whether this Kanchivyāla was the same person as Munjala or a different person we do not know. It is possible to interpret the term Kanchivyāla as meaning the Vyala of Kanchi that is the mad elephant, tiger or king of Kanchi. It is therefore likely that Kanchivyāla might have been an honorofic title of Munjala extolling some of his exploits. However that may be, the name of Kanchivyāla receives corroboration from the copper plate under discussion. It says that Mularāja was in the line of Sri Vyāla-Kanchi. " लाघ्यः चौस्किकराजवंशतिलक श्रीव्यालकाञ्चिप्रभोः ।
सन्ताने त्रिदशेन्द्र तुल्य महिमा श्रीमूलराजो नृपः ॥
It need not be said that Srī Vyāla - Kanchi is the same as Srī Kanchi - Vyāla.
Thus we come to know definitely that Sri VyālaKanchi was an ancestor of Mūlarāja.
