FOREWORD
It gives me immense pleasure, to place before the students and scholers who are interested in Jain canonical literture, the critical edition of the Sthananga-Sutra with the oldest available Sanskrit commentary composed by Acārya Abhayadevsūri in Vikrama-Samvat 1120.
The text of the Sthananga-Sutra critically edited by us was already published by Mahavir Jain Vidyalaya in 1985 A.D. with variant readings in foot-notes and with many appendices etc.

The same text has been adopted here, though some slight changes have been made somewhere where it was important, moreover an old palm-leaf manuscript was found in Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune, which is also consulted. So he is well-known as R. He is reputed as a great authority. The is devided in ten Adhyayanas. To understand the text, au quotes many verses or words from other authentic works, hence this commentary is like an occon.
As this is a very big work, we have thought to publish it in three parts. The first part comprising 1-2-3 adhyayanas has already been published recently. The second part comprising 4-5-6 adhyayanas has also been already published. The third part comprising 7-8-9-10 adhyayanas is being published now and this entire exercise and
