Kalpa Subo
PREFACE.
dhika Preface
This treatise was written by Shrimad Bhadrabahu Swami who was the sixth in succession to "Lord Mahavir.” More than one writer have written commentaries upon this work, but the one which has been given in the following pages called "kalpa Subodhika" written by Shree Vinayavijayopadhyaya is in common use. Shree Vina ya vijayopadhyaya flourished in the 18th century of the Vikrama era. This commentator has also written several works on the Jain religion. "Kalpa Sutra" being one of the very well-known works of the Jains, it seems needless here to make any further mention thereof. It has been translated by more than one translator into English, and one of them forms a part of a volume in the "Sacred Books of the East," series. It is every year read by the Jain monks before the laity, during the Paryushan holidays, which are held sacred by the Jains.
This work is the seventh volume" of the series published by the Trust. We offer here our deep obligations to Punyasa Shree Anandsager Gani, for having kindly corrected the proof sheets. JAVERI BAZAR, BOMBAY
