१. उस काल और उस समय में श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के पांच (कल्याणक) हस्तोत्तरा प्रर्थात उत्तराफाल्गुनी नक्षत्र में हुए। वे इस प्रकार हैं :- भगवान महावीर हस्तोत्तरा नक्षत्र में देवलोक से च्युत होकर (देवानन्दा के) गर्भ में पाये १, हस्तोत्तरा नक्षत्र में भगवान् को (देवानन्दा के) गर्भ से हटाकर (त्रिशला के) गर्भ में स्थापित किया गया २, हस्तोत्तरा नक्षत्र में भगवान् का जन्म हुपा ३, हस्तोत्तरा नक्षत्र में भगवान मुण्डित । होकर गार्हस्थ्य से अनगारत्व में प्रवजित हुए ४, हस्तोत्तरा नक्षत्र में ही महावीर को अनन्त, अनुत्तर, अप्रतिहत, आवरण रहित, समग्र,
1. In those times, in those days, all five prime events in the life of Bhagvan Mahavira, occurred when the moon was in conjunction with the uttariphālguni constellation. It was during this conjunction that he descended into the womb (of Devånandā) and was transferred from one womb to another : (to that of Trisala). During this conjunction he pulled out his hair and became a homeless mendicant.
