कल्पसूत्र ३६ε

जीवन पर्यन्त पालन कर, दूसरों के सन्मुख प्रतिपादित कर, सम्यक् प्रकार से प्राराधन कर, भगवान् की प्राज्ञानुसार अनुपालन कर कितने ही श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ उसी भव में सिद्ध होते हैं, बुद्ध होते हैं, मुक्त होते हैं, परिनिर्वाण को प्राप्त होते हैं और समस्त प्रकार के दुःखों का अन्त करते हैं। कितने ही दूसरे भव में सिद्ध होते हैं, यावत् समस्त दुःखों का अन्त करते हैं। कितने ही तीसरे भव में सिद्ध होते हैं, यावत् सर्व दुःखों का अन्त करते हैं। कितने ही सात प्राठ भवों से अधिक संसार में परिभ्रमण नहीं करते हैं अर्थात् सात प्राठ भवों के भीतर ही सिद्ध होते हैं।
doing so in the right manner with their mind, speech and body rightly intent, may attain perfection in this very life and become enlightened and free after having observed these rules with virtue and purity till the end of their lives and having taught them to others. They may thus attain parinirvana and reach a state beyond pain. Other such monks may attain this state in their next life. while some may reach it in their third life. Still others will not have to wander in this samsara for more than seven or eight lives: they will attain perfection within this period.
