१३२. हे भगवन् ! जीवराशि को देखकर साधु-साध्वियों ने अनशन क्यों किया ? उत्तर- आज से संयम की आराधना अत्यन्त दुराराध्य होगी, ऐसा समझ कर ही उन्होंने अनशन किया है।
१३३. उस काल और उस समय में श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के इन्द्रभूति प्रमुख चौदह हजार श्रमणों की उत्कृष्ट श्रमरण सम्पदा थी ।
१३४. श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के प्रार्या चन्दना प्रमुख छत्तीस हजार साध्वियों की उत्कृष्ट श्रमरणी सम्पदा थी ।
१३५ श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के शंख, शतक आदि प्रमुख एक लाख उनसठ हजार श्रमणोपासकों की उत्कृष्ट श्रमणोपासक सम्पदा थी।
१३६. श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के सुलसा, रेवती प्रमुख तीन लाख अठारह हजार श्रमरणोपासिकाओं की उत्कृष्ट श्रमणोपासका सम्पदा थी।
१३७. श्रमण भगवान् महावीर के चौदह पूर्वधर,
Having espied this worm, numerous monks and nuns have renounced their meals.
132. And why is this being related ? Because this is the period during which self-restraint will be extremely difficult to acquire.
133. In his time and age, Sramara Bhagavān Mahavira had an excellent congregation of monks, numbering fourteen thousand. Indrabhūti was their chief.
134. Bhagavān Mahavira had also an excellent congregation of nuns, thirty-six thousand strong. Aryika Candana was the chief nun.
135. Bhagavän Mahävira had an excellent congregation of lay followers, numbering fifty-nine thousand men. Sankha and Sataka were the chief of these.
136. Bhagavān Mahāvīra also had an excellent community of lay women-followers, numbering three-hundred and eighteen thousand women. Sulasă and Revat! were their chief.
