IT is our sad duty to mourn in this issue of the sad, sudden, and I premature death of a renowned scholar, who had made Jairt Logic a special subject of his study. In his book on "Indian Logic,” he has assigned a high place to Jain Logic. He was contemplating a traslation in English of Nyaya Vinishchayâlankâra by Swami Akalankadeva. He translated Nyayavatara, an ancient work on Jaina Logic, into English, and introduced Jain text books, and Degrees in Jaina Grammar, Logic, and Literature in the Samskrit College at Calcutta.
