ભાવા:-સ લેાકેાથી રાજા, રાજાથી ચક્રવર્તી અને ચક્રવર્તીથી ઇંદ્ર શ્રેષ્ઠા વળી આ સથી ત્રણ જગતના નાયક શ્રી જિનેશ્વર ભગવાન શ્રેષ્ઠ છે, જ્ઞાનના મહ સાગર એવા શ્રી જિનેશ્વર ભગવાન પણ શ્રી સંઘને હંમેશાં નમસ્કાર કરે છે, એ આશ્ચય છે. માટે તે સધને જે પુરૂષ વૈરસ્વામીની પેઠે ઉન્નતિ પમાડે છે. તે પૃથ્વી ઉપર પ્રશંસનીય છે.

Among the many Social evils to which the Indian people in g neral and the Jaina Community in particular are subject, early marriag must be given the palm in respect of the dire misery and wide-spres mischief it causes both directly and indirectly, individually and society as a whole. Though deep-rooted, it is an institution of compa tively recent growth, for we find no trace of it in ancient India, even in the later Hindu Period when the Ashrama of Brahmachary was still a living reality. The institution bas not therefore the sanctit attached to things of the hoary past. Neither does it appear to be free, natural growth. It was rather forced on the nation by th exigencies of the times,-notably the introduction of a new and alarmin factor in the situation with the advent of the Mahomedans. Histor records numerous instances of the terrible excesses committed by son of the Moslem rulers and their brutal unrestrained soldiery. Durir these outbreaks no Hindu maiden was deemed safe from their want
