District Science Centre at Dharampur :
The District Science Centre was established in 1984 at Dharampur which is a backward Tribal arca in the Valsad district of South Gujarat. This is the only Science Centre in Gujarat which has been created by the Council of Science Museums, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in collaboration with the Department of Museums, Government of Gujarat. The State Government has provided the land monetary assistance for the establishment and development of the Science Centre.
The Science Centre has put on display various kinds of Science and Natural history exhibits representing the Natural wealth of the Valsad district. The centre is noted for imparting training on Science to the Tribal children with the help of working models of Science and Technology. The purpose of this Science Centre is to motivate the Tribal children for Science learning through entertainment and Practical work. The centre has also created a Science-park for attracting tribal children towards learning of Science and Technology through sports and games. The Science centre is receiving considerable response from the local tribal communities.
