Interreligious Sustainability Project
The Interreligious Sustainability Project devotes itself to engaging and supporting religiously-based reflection and action on sustainable development. The project has published One Creation, One People, One Place - a statement of common regional values, coupled with an assessment of the greater Chicago region. The network includes congregations and lay people from a wide variety of religious traditions including Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Bahá'í, Unitarian Universalist and Buddhist. The project supports people in religious congregations in defining public actions from a religious perspective in three waysthrough hands-on work experience, workshops, and public policy initiatives. In these activities, the project is responsive to the interests and concerns expressed through the community-level sustainability circles and by congregations directly. The Project is convening a Symposium on Sustainable Development at the 1999 Parliament.
