District Six Heritage The Center for Ubuntu in the Republic of South Africa upholds that every person in the nation has a story to tell. To that end, the Center is working to present the story of the past for historical purposes, and to use this knowledge to create a positive future which is informed by past mistakes and struggles. The Center will draw out the poison from South Africa's memories of Apartheid, while celebrating the good things - like the indomitable spirit. In this, the Center hopes to contribute to the healing of South Africa's memory using District Six as a dramatic example. Just as every South African has a story to tell, so do the country's faith communities, particularly their role in the nation's struggle against apartheid. Center for Ubuntu REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA

Sharing Spiritual Tradition from Japan The Shumei Taiko Ensemble, one of the leading Taiko drumming troops in the world, inspires audiences with the beauty and precise articulation of the world's oldest musical traditions. Founded in 1982 as part of Shinji Shumeikai (a spiritual organization whose mission includes fostering an appreciation of the arts), the Ensemble has come to occupy an eminent place in the world of Japanese performing arts. Acclaimed in its mastery of traditional Taiko techniques, the group has infused vibrant, thoroughly modern approaches into an art steeped in tradition. In this way, the ensemble brings Japanese spiritual arts to a broader audience. The Shumei Taiko Ensemble has performed in a variety of venues, including numerous schools, in order to foster inter cultural appreciation and to build bridges between peoples. The ensemble will perform during the Parliament in several townships and other communities in the Cape Town area. Shinji Shumeikai/Shumei Taiko Ensemble JAPAN
