VIRCHAND RAGHAVJI GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP
We are pleased to announce that the award of scholarship has started this year the Death Centenary Year of Shri Virchand Raghavji Gandhi and 2600th Janma Kalyanak of Bhagwan Mahavir.
Jain society of Middle Tennessee (JSMT) celebrated 2600th Birth Anniversary of Lord Mahavir, on 7th April 2001. With the sincere and dedicated efforts of the outgoing members and youth the program was a great success! We had sequence of few cultural programs in the celebration of the occasion. On that auspicious day all the Jains recited the Jain prayer and stavans, which added life to the program. Another high light was the performance of 3 skits provided by YJA regarding Bhagwan Mahavir's Life. Deven, Kunal, Nirav Shah, Ishita and Ishan Parikh's performance was loved by

Committee is also planning to publish the reprint of small booklet in Gujarati "Jyotirdharni Jivan Gatha", his life story, by PR. Shah and distribute free at VRG booth at the Chicago convention and thereafter, after its due release at convention. Publication of its English edition is also under consideration.

Balbhadra had graced the occasion with knowledge of Jainism and spiritual uplift to more than 200 in attendance people. He laid emphasis on how important the "NavkarMantra" and other slogans are and how it generates powerful vibrations throughout the day. He also laid emphasis on Soul "The ATMA" he says ATMA is Eternal and is very powerful. We also had number of cultural items such as Divda Dance performed by enthusiastic youths. Ghada Dance and Raas was performed by youths and adults. sequence of dances like ghadadance,stick dance, divdadance performed by youths and adults.Program was attended by 30 students and Professor of Western Kentucky University - Bowling Green, KY. They are taking Comparative religious class. They were very much impressed by our philosophy, culture and delicious vegetarian food. President Pravin Mehta thanked Ashok, Dilip, Natvar Shah, Mona and Dr. Paresh Sheth, Navin and Nisha Shah for their contributions. People came from Bowling Green, Owensboro, KY and within 150 mile radius to make it a great success.

2ND MEDICAL CAMP BY JAINA AT BHAGYODAYA TIRTH IN SAGAR, MADHYA PRADESH
To serve the poorest of the poor with the assistance of JAINA and Jain doctors from USA, a second free surgical camp was organized at Bhagyodaya Tirth Hospital during February 19th to 21, 2001.
Last year, a medical/surgical ICU unit was sponsored by and dedicated to JAINA, with a contribution of $ 21,000. This year again, we have contributed $ 25,000 for the expansion of the medical staff. After the camp, the doctors attended the celebration of Mahamastikavishek of Bade Baba in Kundalpur and received the blessings of Shri. Acharya Vidhya Sagarji Maharaj.
