Veerayatan is a well known socio-religious institution in Bihar which perpetuates the concepts of spirituality, culture and education. The eye hospital in veerayatan, Rajigir, Bihar hleps to restore over 700 eye sights each year. The demand to receive the gift of sight, in the poverty stricken state of Bihar is never ending. Veerayatan aims to eradicate blindness from Bihar through the promotion of education, health programs, setting up training courses, and awareness campaigns. Besides eye treatments that costs only $20.00 many other medical treatments are offered at Veerayatan.
Mr. Arvind Shah and Mr. Madhukar Mehta, Vice President and Secretary respectively of the Jain Study Center of North Carolina have begun a program that will provide an excellent support for the Veerayatan eye operations program. A pilot program was run last year for less than eight weeks that raised more than $10,000.00 that was presented to Veerayatan at the end of the 25th anniverssary celebrations. It has also raised more than $2,000.00 thereafter.
The program is very simple, we all celebrate individual birthdays. In the celebrations we spend lots of money. While celebrating our birthday, we could afford to spend extra $20.00 to support one eye treatmetn at Veerayatan. Give the Gift of sight, the Day you saw the light!
