Calling All Volunteers!
“Jainism - Back to Basics"
TENTATIVE PROGRAM
We need your participation!!! We want this convention to be a representation of YOUR ideas, thoughts and suggestions. The Activities Committee of YJA and HYJACC would appreciate it if you could send us feedback... and if you are interested in getting involved for the upcoming convention, here are a couple of ways that people can take part:
1) Organize a workshop/lecture/discussion in conjunction with
participants from your local Jain center. 2) Become a moderator for a small group discussion. 3) Set up presentations individually or as a group. 4) Help identify and sign up speakers for the convention. 5) Or just offer your suggestions on programming topics.
Registration is Thursday, July 2nd, 1998 from 2pm to 7pm. Programs begin daily at 8:00am and continue until 12am.
Programs will consist of panel discussions followed by group discussions, educational classroom like seminars, presentations, workshops and lot of fun games.
Guests invited to speak include Gurudev Chitrabhanuji, Balbhadraji, as well as Jain scholars and Philosophers.
Session topics are being developed as a collaborative effort of youth across North America. These topics are being developed to address issues to various age groups and knowledge levels.
The goal of this convention is to provide its participants with a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences of Jainism through discussions, seminars and team work. Topics will be spread across the whole spectrum, specifically to enlighten the participants with the basics and applications of Jainism. Some topics to be covered include:
If you are planning to attend the convention, and are interested in taking part, please send us your name and how you would like to participate. If you have some specific knowledge on a topic that you'd like to present, consider leading a workshop/lecture/panel debate. If you don't have a specific topic or view in mind... but would like to take an active part... then the small group discussion 'moderator' would be an ideal way to participate. No prior experience required!
