Jain Internet and BBS Committee CD-ROM on World Religions in America Available
Diana T. Eck, the Director of the Pluralism Project at the Harvard University, Boston, has prepared a Multimedia CD- ROM, named On Common Ground: World Religions in America.
The CD-ROM contains the description of 15 religious traditions, each with a general introduction to the tradition as it is practised in the United States today. Among them Jain, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and Native people, these 8 of 15 traditions are treated most extensively.
The disk contains 3,000 pages of text, 200 photographs, 100 sound files and movies and 100 primary documents. The following topics are covered in the Jain tradition:

World Community Service WCS helped the Mahavir Heart Foundation of Bombay by contributing $970. Donation came from Madhu Sudan of California.
WCS is planning to send a 20 foot container of used clothes to India for the needy people around 15 March. Diwaliben Mohanlal Mehta Charitable Trust will take care of distribution of clothes throughout India.

1998 Interfait Calendar Designates July as "Jain Month" National Conference - Chicago and Northern Illinois region has published a spectacular full color wall calendar with the coop- erative effort of 14 religious communities. This award-winning calendar is a valuable resource for understanding religious diversity in America. The calendar highlights the basic tenets and religious writings of each community and features pictures, photographs and describes religious observances. The inclusion of JAINISM in the calendar is the result of years of effort by Mr. Ramesh Solanki, Chairperson of Interfaith committee of the Jain society of Metropolitan Chicago. The New Millenium In the year 2001, the Jains all over the world will celebrate Bhagwan Mahavir's 2600th Birth Anniversary. The same year also marks 100 years since Shrimad Rajchandra (April 16) and Shri Virchand Raghvji Gandhi (August 7) left this worldly existence.
