Center continues to educate Jains
Since 1985 the Jain Center of Northern California has been conducting pathshalas in both San Jose and Fremont locations. Children ages 6 through 18 have taken advantage of these pathshalas. Material has been selected from Jain Bal Bodh Pathmala, Jain Study Circular and other books. In addition a trip to Los Angeles Jain Bhavan has been organized in the past for children.
Central Ohio gives their first program
On June 30, 1991 the Jain Center Of Central Ohio presented it's very first program and it was a great success. Over forty Jains and their friends participated in Samayik. On July 21, 1991 the center had its monthly gathering, over thirty-five Jains and their friends participated. On October 20, 1991 forty-five members of the center visited the Pittsburgh Hindu-Jain Temple.
Pittsburgh will host 93' JAINA Convention

Doctor donates life saving machine
During his recent visit to India, Dr. Dhiraj Shah of Buffalo, NY, attended a medical camp for women in Bombay, organized by Shree Bidada Sarvodaya Trust. He realized the need for a mammography x-ray machine and immediately pledged to donate one. The machine will be sent to India through Share and Care Foundation.

Jain Digest Vidyalaya Alumni Association formed An alumni association of the former students of the Mahavir JAINA Vidyalaya has just been formed. The officers are Anop Vora, president; Navin Dedhia, vice president; Rajni Shah, secretary; and Kanti Mepani, treasurer. The objective of this association is to help the needy and further the cause of the Jain community as a whole. A

program which was attended by over one-hundred people including youths. This program was held at Washington University in cooperation with the Hindu Temple. It consisted of Manglacharan and song by Mrs. Anita Jain; she was accompanied by a local artist Sarad Sathe. An address was given by Ambassador, N.P. Jain about the Jain Convention Theme "Extending Jain Heritage to the Next Generation" and thecurrent situation in India.

The Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington held two programs. First, Sunandaben gave lectures on Jainism in Gujrati, in September. Later that month, Pandit Dhirajlalji Mehta, a Jain scholar, held a camp
type program, where he gave a series Mahavir Swamy Murti of lectures to teach the basic principles of Jainism. Ohio recognizes Asian Indians as minority The Governor of Ohio, George Voinivich has stated that Ohio is now ready to comply with Federal regulations. The Federal definition of minorities includes the Asian Indian Americans. In this context Ohio is accepting application for certification as minority business enterprise from Asian Indians. Pratistha Mahotsav The Hindu Temple Society of Augusta, GA celebrated the installation of Lord Mahavir Murti under the guidance of Acharya Shri Sushil Kumarji, from Siddhachalam Ashram, NJ, on September 28. He was accompanied by Muni Amerendraji, Pandit Khemchandji, Vidhicharak Vinod Shah and singer Ghanshyam Joshi.
