Manchester, UK. The chief minister of Karnataka, Mr Bommai, who was attending the World Kannada Conference at Manchester, called upon the Mayor of Manchester and during the felicitation ceremony, Bommai pesented the replica of the statue of Lord Bahubali, a monolithic granite figure,57 feet tall, standing on the Indragiri hill, since over 1000 years, at Sravanabelagola in Karnataka State.
Lord Bahubali is the second son of the first Tirthankara, Lord Rishabdev. He renounced the kingdom in defiance to seek spiritual solace and salvation through Jaina doctrines first preached by his beloved father, Lord Rishabdev.
The Jain Shrine of Sravanabelagola incarnates the spiritual pinnacle of the people of Karnataka and this distinction is incorporated in the Comata idol to disseminate the Jaina doctrines to all Humanity.
