The festivity provided an opportunity for the members from different parts of the country to get acquainted, meet together, resulting in an interaction thought. In this regard, Mr. Arvind Vora, secretary of the Center, declared: "The aim to promote interaction through participation of the members from various associations has been successful".
This is the list of members who fasted during the Paryushan. Mrs. Kailash Shah fasted for nine days. Mrs. Jyotsna Gandhi, Mr. Ramesh Lakhani, Mrs. Nina Patadia, Mrs. Urmila Sanghavi, Mrs. Hema Shah, Mrs. Usha Shah, Mrs. Kusum Vadhar and Mrs. Sheela Vasa fasted for eight days. Mrs. Rupa Shah did fasting for four days. Members, fasted for three days, are: Mrs. Nehali Jhaveri, Mrs. Pushpa Jhaveri, Mr. Shamal Potani, Mrs. Aarati Shah, Mrs. Jaya Shah, Mrs. Kusum Shah, Mrs. Kusum Chinu Shah, Mrs. Manju Shah, Mrs. Minaxi Shah, Mrs. Nina Shah, Mr. Ramesh Shah, Mrs. Sharada Shah and Mrs. Vimala Vakani.
Washington, D.C. Paryushan Parva '85 was celebrated by Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington with various religious activities.
Dr. Ratan Kumar Jain delivered a lecture on Jain principles and paryushan parva on September 8th.
Mahavira Janma Vanchan celebration was held on September 14th. Various Dream Darshan events were carried out in the traditional way. The events included were swinging and carrying of the swapnas and the holy cradle. About 90 families attended and $8,000.00 raised through the auctioning of swapnas.
