Narayan Lal Kachhara*
ABSTRACT This second part of the article on Jain Dualism deals with the interactions between the soul, mind consisting of karma body, tejas body and conscious mind, and the gross material body. Interactions between different components of the system are described and explanations offered based on Jain principles and scientific findings. Effects of neuro-electromagnetic fields and faith healing processes are also discussed.
1. Vargņā (Energy Fields)
Jain philosophy proclaims that the fundamental constituent of the physical order of existence is energy and paramāņu is its ultimate smallest unit. The jain paramānu, the real quantum of energy, is far too small than photon, the quantum of energy, known to science. Vargnā is a cluster of a large number, generally infinite, of paramāņus. Vargņās are classified on the basis of number of paramāņus (in a range) in the cluster. Though the clusters could be of infinite types depending on the number of paramāņus, twenty-three main types of vargņās have been recognized. Each type has a range of number of paramānus. These vargnās broadly fall in two groups.
1. Mass less vargnās (4 touch) - first thirteen types of vargnās belong to
this group. The paramāņus in these vargnās are in unbound state. 2. Varganas having mass (8-touch)- the last ten types belong to this
category. The paramāņus in these vargņās are bonded, and bonding is
supposed to produce the mass.
Because of charge the paramānu and the vargnā could be visualized as fields. These vargnā fields are physical and each field has a frequency range. The nature and character of each vargņā field would be different due to variation in the number of paramāņus in the vargnās. All kinds of vargņās are present in the whole cosmos. The penetrating power and maximum velocity of vargnā is highest in the case of a single paramānu vargna and they decrease with increase in number of paramāņus in the vargnā. A single paramāņu moving freely can pass though all objects like planets and stars uninterrupted and it has a velocity large enough to cross the entire cosmos in almost no time. The velocity of mass less vargnās is also supposed to be much greater than the velocity of light. The sun light is 8-touch vargnā having mass. The biggest vargņā of mass category is supposed to produce all the visible matter and their constituent atoms and sub * 55, Ravindranagar, Udaipur (Rajasthan)
