vendu, Balacandra, Rāmcandra, Municandra, Ravikīrti, Kumārakīrti, Dāmanandī, Traividyagovardhana, Vaddhācārya etc. 19 Prof. Upadhye held that some of these names appeared in the inscription might be fake but he did not give any argument to support his claim.
The inscription of Morab distt. Dhāravāda, referred to the voluntary death ( Sallekhanā ) of Nāgacandra, the disciple of Jayakīrtideo of Yapanīya sect. Herein, Kanakasakti, the disciple of Nāgacandra has been signalised as Mantracūļāmaņi.20 The inscription dated 1096 A. D. belonging to the regime of Tribhuvanamalla, mentioned the grant of a garden by Sovisetti, to the Cārukīrti Pandit, the disciple of Municandra Traividya Bhattāraka of Punnāgavşkşamülagana of Yāpanīya sect.21 According to this inscription, it was written by Dāyiyayya, the disciple of Municandra Siddhāntadeo. An inscription of Dharamapuri, Distt. Bidā, Maharastra, referred to the donation of a portion of the receipts, collected from various taxes from some villages to Mahāvīra Pandit, for the worship of Lord and maintenance of monks.22 Similarly, an inscription of 11th century A. D. referred to the grant of a village Cumudavāda, by Sivakumāra of Gandha dynasty to the preceptor Devakīrti of Kāreyagana of Māilānvaya of Yāpaniya sect for building a Jaina temple and its maintenance.23 The preceptors mentioned as predecessors to the Devakīrti, in this inscription include : Subhakīrti, Jinacandra, Nāgacandra and Gunakīrti. An inscription dated, 1108 A. D. mentioned that during the time of Ballăladeva and Gañadharāditya Bammagavuda the disciple of Āryikā ( Nun ) Ratnamatī of Mūlasangha Punnāgavşkşamūlagana built a temple. 24 The mention of Mūlasangha, is misleading here. However, the Punnāgavşkşamūlagaña, figured here, clearly indicated that the nun was Yāpanīya one, as this Gana definitely belonged to Yapanīya sect.
