From the year Vikram Samvat 2040 he was made group leader by Acharya Sri Tulsi. At present Muni Shri was continuing with 11th varshitap (where by one takes meal on one day and goes on fasting the other day). On this day also he was on fasting. Once he has been described by Acharyashree as one such saint who was very gentle by his body, speech and mentally too. Digambar Jain saint, Muni Shri Saubhagya Sagar Ji maharaj left for his heavenly abode on the 18th September, 2007 at Udaipur after fasting (accepting sallekhana samadhi) for a period of 66 days. During this period, he had been ware only once in 48 hours. Muni Shri was the disciple of Acharya shri Abhinandan Sagar Ji maharaj, who belonged to Acharya shri Shanti Sagar Ji's sect. A huge procession was taken out through the city in which thousands of devotees participated. The body of Muni Shri was carried for cremation on a doli in a sitting posture, as is common for the Jain monks. Muni Shri Niranjan Sagar Ji maharaj, disciple of Acharya Shri Nirbhay Sagar Ji maharaj, belonging to Jain Digambar sect breathed his last at the age of 65 years, on Thursday, the 4th October, 2007 at Kuchaman City in Rajasthan. He had just accepted muni diksha on the same day in the morning. SAD DEMISE DR. L. M. SINGHVI PASSES AWAY-Eminent jurist, noted statesman and former Member of Parliament, Dr. L. M. Singhvi breathed his last in New Delhi at the Max Devki Devi Hospital in the afternoon of 6th october, 2007. Cremation was held at 10.30 am on Sunday, 7th October at the Lodhi Crematorium, Opposite CGO Complex. Uthaoni from 5 - 6 pm on Wednesday, 10th October at the Neeti Bagh Club. He was 76. Dr. Singhvi was a former Parliamentarian and noted jurist. Singhvi and a constitutional expert. He was born in Jodhpur in 1931. A scholar of Jain history and culture, he was one of India's longest-serving envoys to Britain (early 1991 to end 1997). A linguist and a prolific author, Singhvi also served as a member of the Third Lok Sabha between 1962 and 1967. He was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 1998 and was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1999. Dr. Laxmi Mall, an expert in public and private international law, a distinguished parliamentarian, a highly respected intellectual, a prominent exponent of human rights, a doyen of the Indian Bar, a citizen-statesman, an author, poet, publicist, linguist and litterateur. Dr. Singhvi was Member of Lok Sabha (19621967) and Rajya Sabha (1998-2004) and is Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Educated at, associated with and honoured by different universities in India (Rajasthan, Allahabad, Calcutta, Delhi, Osmania, Andhra, Tamil and Jabalpur Universities), U.S.A. (Harvard, Cornell and Berkeley), and U.K. (Cambridge, Oxford, Hull London, Edinburgh, De Montford, North London, Westminster, Buckingham and several other universities), Dr. Singhvi is equally at home in the academic world, the arbitral tribunals and the courts throughout the world. For 53 years was associated with prominent Hindi News Paper Nav Bharat Times in different capacities. He was founder member of "Digamber Jain Mahasamiti and several other jain institutions. He also actively participated with Radio and Television programmes. He was born on 1st September, 1927 at ETA, Uttar Pradesh. After achieving M. A. Degree in Hindi, studied Jain Philosophy at Bengal Sanskrit Association. He dedicated his life for the cause of jain samaj. Board of Trustees of Ahimsa Foundation offer their deepest condolences at the sad demise of Sri Paras Das Jain.
