apart, Dr. Altekar believes the coins among these some as of Mathurā lineage Nāgas among whom he takes Ganapatināga as of Mathurā lineage.
Sudhākara Chattopadhyāya's list off Nāgas is Skandanāga, Brhaspatināga, Vyaghranāga, Bhimanāga, Bibhunāga, Vasunāga, Prabhakaranaga, Devanāga, Bhavanāga and Ganapatināga as per evidence of coins Nāgasena mentioned in API 21 according to him is Nāgasena of Padmăvati of Bāna Bhatta (HC)
Dr. Kailash Chandra Jain13 quoting H. V. Trivedi (Catalogue of the coins of the Nāga kings of Padmāvati IX.XI) takes Bhīmanāga, Skandanāga, Vasunāga, Brhaspatināga, Ravināga, Prabhākaranāga, Bhavanāga, Devanāga and Ganapatināga as the lineage.
R. K. Mookarjil4 as per API 13 and 21. takes Nāgasena of line. 13 as Nāgasena I and that of line 21 as Nāgasena II. He also takes Nāgadatta, Ganapatināga and Nāgasena of API line 21 as kings of Nāga dynasty of different centres, Vidiśā Padmavattī, Kantipuri and Mathurā. K.C. Jain takes Ganapatināga and Nāgasena as kings of Padmāvati vanquished by Samudragupta who after overthrowing Ganapatināga placed Nāgasena on the throne as his vassal whom he got killed on hearing the secret plans to declare independent divulged by the Sārikā bird.
Dr. R. S. Tripathi takes Ganapatināga also as Nāga ruler of Padmāvati (Modern Padampavaya near Narwar in the Gwalior state) (125 miles north east of narwar in the apex of the confluence of the Sindhu and Pārā]"?
Dr. Budh Prakash18 takes Ganapatināga as a powerful ruler of Mathurā to Vidiśā where his coins have been found. He, however, postulates the confederacy of Nāga chiefs Nāgasena, Acyuta, Nandi and Ganapatināga against Samudragupta immediately after his accession, which received a smashing blow probably at Kausāmbil API in line 13 refers to Acyuta before Nāgasena but in line 21 it refers to Acyuta after Nāgasena and in line 21 refers to Ganapatināga before Nāgasena.
Whatever may be the order of succession or range of administration, Nāgasena of API was Nāgasena of HC of Bāna overthrown by Samudragupta.
API line 14 refers to a Kota Kulaja captured by Samudragupta while playing at Puspapura. JNVSE Amalā tikā says, “Purā Śrāvastīs-varah Śruta.varmāpi Pūrvavat Sukamukhāt. Vibhinna mantro rājya bhrasto bhūditi vārttā"20 i.e. earlier the king of śrāvastī, even śruta varmā, like the earlier incident,
