In the Atharvaveda large figures like Sata, Sahasra, Ayuta, and Nyarbuda are mentioned (Ath. V. 8.8.7). The decimal system in the Atharveda is 5 and 50, 7 and 70, 9 and 90, 1 and 10, 2 and 20, 3 and 30 (A.V.6.25.1-3; 7.4.1; 19.47.3-5).
