There are several phon.s in Gujarati imitating the visual sensation of light. (1) jhagmag-vū, jhagjhag-vū—'to shine brightly'. (2) tagtag-vū—'to glitter, to glisten'. (3) Cakcak-vū—to sparkle'. (4) jha!hal-vū—jhaļmal-vū—to shine dazzlingly.' (Turner, 5552, 5391) (5) tamtam-vū—'to flicker'. It has also the association of movement. (6) camak-vū—'to twinkle, to glimmer, to glitter.' (7) Jhabak-vū-jhalak-vũ 'to flash'. (4) In case of pacpac-tu 'with juice surfacing and oozing (with respect to an overripe fruit etc.), lacpac-tū 'saked with (e.g. ghee); ladbad 'drenched, suffused with liquid' (e.g. a cloth), drenched or wet all over with juice', the focus seems to be on the physical condition of an object.
