Chapter IV on sacrifices enumerates actions classed under 'Dharma", explains the difference among yaga, dana and homa, discusses why deity is postulated and how Deity is ascertained, presents classifications of sacrifices etc.
As Chapter V is devoted to bearing of Mimams Sastra on legal literature, it contains the exposition of Evidence, Joint Concern, Inheritance, Sources of Proprietory Right and Adoption.
There is a general misconception that Mimämsä is concerned with rituals only and has very little to contribute to Indian Philosophy. And on account of this misconception scholars have paid scant attention to the study of Mimärhsä. In the field of metaphysics, it is generally declared that they follow Vaileşikas; but even there they propound their independent views and accept some categories not accepted by the Vaiseşikas. In the field of Logic and epistemology, their contribution is remarkable, Svataḥpramanya, Aavitäbhidhänavada, Abhihitanvayavada, Jäättäväda, Abhavapramaņa, Arthapattipramāņa, Akhyativada, etc. are some of the interesting and important theories they have propounded in this field. Its claim to väkyärthaiastra par excellance is justified And it is high time. we should study the texts of this school, focussing our attention on this speciality of the school.
We are really grateful to Mm. Ganganath Jha for his poineering efforts in expounding the Mimärhsa philosophy to modern scholars and students. And publishers deserve our thanks for bringing out this reprint of the first edition which was not available in the market for the last so many years.

The present work is No. 9 in the text series. The fa in the work explains the title in details, but still it remains a little vague. It would be best explained by the word द्राक्षारसमयी नूतनमुक्तककाव्यरचना as stated on the title page itself. Even with this, however, the title would not sound delicate, sweet and intoxicating like the meaning that it is expected to convey.
