4. Later still a grand scheme of graduating the zodiacal circumference was evolved. This is based on the fact that 360 saura days (one saura day equals the time taken by Sun to move on 1/360th part of zodiacal circle) make 3 seasons of 4 saura months (a saura month consists of 30 saura days) each. In this context, JP. 9. 17-19 states as :
i. e.,
"(1) How many nakşatras (asterisms) are completed in the first month of Varşā (rainy season) ? (The answer is) Uttarāsādhā (o sagittarii) remains for 14 ahoratras (days and nights), Abhijit (a Lorae) for 7 ahorātras, Sravana for 8 ahorātras and Dhanişthā (B Delphini) for one ahorātra. Second month of Varșā--Dhanistha (B Delphini) for 14 ahoratras (days and nights), Satabhişā (a Aquarii) for 7 ahorātras, Pürvābhādrapada (a Pegasi) for 8 ahoratras, and Uttarābhadrapada ( y pegasi) for one ahorātra.
Third month of Varsā.... Uttarābhadrapada (Y Pegasi) for 14 ahorātras Revati ( Piscium) for 15 ahorātras and Aśvini (B Arieties) for one ahorātra.
Fourth month of Varşā.. Aśvini (B Arietis) 14, Bharani (41 Arietis), 15 and Kșttikā (n Tauri) for one ahorātra.
(2) First month of Hemanta (Winter)..Kịttikā (n Tauri) 14, Rohiņi + ( Tauri) 15 and Migaśırsa ( Orionis) for one ahorātra (day and night).
Second month of Hemanta. .Mļgaśırşa (1 Orsonis) for 14, Ārdră (a Orionis) 8, Punarvasu (B Geminorum) 7 and Puşya (8 Cancri) for one ahoratra.
Third month of Hemanta ..Puşya ( 8 Cancri) for 14 ahorātras, Āślesa (€ Hydrae) 15 and Maghā (a Leonis) for one ahorātra.
Fourth' month of Hemanta.. Maghā (« Leonis) for 14 ahorātras, Pūrvā. phālguņi (8 Leonis) 15 ahoratras and Uttarāphālguņi (ß Leonis) for one ahoratra.
(3) First month of Grīşama (Summer) ..Uttarāphālguņi (Leonis) for 14 ahorātras, Hasta (8 Corvi) 15 ahorātras and Citrā (& Virginis) for one ahorātra.
