Biṭṭayya, a noble person, constructed a Jaina church at Bandalike (Shimonga Dt) in A.D. 902, for which Lōkaṭeyarasa, governor of Banavāsi under emperor Kṛṣṇa-II. Nāgayya constructed a Jaina temple in A.D. 925 at Asundi (Gadag Dt) and the chief abbey of Dhōra-Jinālaya of Bankapura (Dharwar Dt) diocese was administering this basadi also. 198 Mahāsāmanta Śrīvijaya built a Jaina temple at Mānyapura (Bangalore Dt) and prince Raṇāvaloka Sauca Kambadeva donated Pēruvvadiyur village in A.D. 802. Vijaya-pasati Jinālaya at Talakāḍu was so famous that the preceptor Vardhamāna guru received a grant Vadanaguppe village. Jalamangala town was donated by JagattungaGovindaraja-III for the maintenance of the Jaina temple in Saligrama in A.D. 813. Samkaraganda built Jaina temples at Koppala and Andhradeśa. Jainism continued to be a paramount religion of the Rāṣṭrakūṭa empire with the flag of Ahimsa fluttering a top Jaina places of worship at Malkhēd, Lakṣmeśvar, Hombuja, Śravanabelagola and a number of places in Andhra-deśa, Mahārāṣṭra, Tamilnadu and Gangaväḍi, the homeland of Jaina creed. Mārasimha accepted sallēkhanā at Bankapura and died in A.D. 974. Indra-IV, the last emperor of Rāṣṭrakūṭa dynasty, also ended his life at Śravanabelagola by the rite of sallekhana in A.D. 982. The Rāṣṭrakūta patronised Jaina literature in Prakrit, Sanskrit and Kannada languages, founded and endowed Jaina temples and mathas, revered the Jaina monks and nuns and encouraged Jaina art and architecture to reach its climax.
