This is urdhatāsāmānya which can be compared with samavāyi karana of Naiyayikas and Vaisesikas.
Thus the nature of substance in Buddhism and Jainism is not much different. The main difference is that substance in Buddhism particularly of Madhyamikas is unreal (nihsvabhava, dharma-nairātma) even it is sanskrta. Sünyatā is their ultimate reality. The appearance of substance is false (māyā). 31
81 utpadusthitibhanganam yugapannasti sambhavah.
kramasah sambhavo nasti sambhavo vidyate kada. utpadadisu sarvesu sarvesam sambhavah punah. tasmadutpadavat bhango bhangavad drasyate sthitih.
