younger sections of the Jaina community by the impact of the famous lectures of Pandit Bechardasji in which he pointed out that much of what went in the name of śāstras was not the true spirit of the śāstras. His thesis was opposed by those who could not controvert the same. Likewise the articles and speeches of Pandit Sukhlalji and Muni Jinavijayji gave support to the movement for social and religious reforms in the Jaina community. All three of them are held in very high esteem in the world of learning and knowledge for the valuable contribution they have made and have been given public recognition and felicitations in many ways on many occasions. An attempt has been made here to give very briefly a biographical sketch of each of these three Pandits :
1. Pandit Sukhlalji : He was born on 8th December 1880 in a small village named Limli in Saurashtra (Gujarat). When he was still a child of 13 years, reading in seventh class in the village school, family circumstances turned him to be a shopkeeper. However, this career which nature had not carved out for him was cut short by a very unfortunate mishap which befell him when he was only sixteen years old.
