One can hardly expect such a distortion of the Dikpalini-Matrikas anywhere else. strued as Lakshmi, Agneyi as the Matrika of Surya, Nairrti's human head has become a Kalash, Gajalakshmi in the place of Kauberi and Vajrashankhala, a Jain Vidya, in the place of Aishanya.
However, for carefully restored images a rennovated temple of XVI cen. origin, see Appendix 'B'.1
Some surviving images of the Dikpalini-Matrikas are found on the exterior of the Sambhavanathji (Jain) Temple, Kumbhariya (near Ambaji: Mt. Abu) also. This temple was originally built in 1228 A.D.1 None can say to-day for certain that the present structure is as old as that. Perhaps, it is a XV cen. or XVI cen. A.D. edifice. However, some of the images fixed in the outer of the temple might be nearly as old as XIII cen. A.D. Some Dikpalinis-Matrikas are found inside the temple as well.
