The designation area (pp. 356, 361 ) is used for the Mahópurīna of JinasenaGunabhadry, zgarna (p. 149 ) for the Gommatasara, and sutra for the I'extinxirtha-sztra.
Some of the references show that Cubhaca dr. sciler ile 01:05 tary or the commentator when, as a matter of fact, the quotation belongs to the basic text: VA91109di's Yatyocard for Vattakera's Mulaocira (pp. 106, 309, 330), Yatyäsira and Malactinas being used as the names of the same text (pp. 333, 334, 341 ); Astashari for Axtummansii (pp. 119, 155, 162 ); and Pranun-kumata-
miranda for Pariksmuklus (p. 179). As against this, though the Tattvärtha-sutra is mentioned, the paysages are taken really from the Vrtti of Srutusāgara (pp. 304-5, 389 )
In one pluce, Subhacandra appears to quote from the Kalpa (p. 308). A pasguge which would have been the source of it is found in the Kulpyesülre, Sāmācārīsūtra 17, 25 rad runs thus ;
पासावासं पजोसरियाणं नो कप्पर जिग्गंधाण था जिग्गांधीण वा इट्टाणं तुदाणं भारोग्गा बलियसरीराणं इमामो गव रसविगईमो भभिस्वर्ण ममिक्खणं साहरितए, सं जहा-और दहिं २ मवणीय सपि ते ५ गुदं ६ मई मज ८ मंसं १ ॥१७॥
पासावासं पजोसवियस्व मसपडियाइविखस्स मिस्स कप्पह एगे उसिणविवढे पडिग्गाहितए, से वियणं असिस्थे जो घेवण ससिस्थे, से दियणं परिपूयु कोष परिपए, सेवियण परिमिए णो देख अपरिमिए, से विपण बहुसंपुर्णपणे शो चेवणं बहुसंपुग्णे ॥२५॥ If the source of the gäthäs quoted in that discussion could be traced, it would be clear what other texts Subhacandra hud in view.
In the context of tho discussion about himsă in Sacrifices, Subhacandra quotes sonne 'es from the Yajurveda (p. 313). There are differences in readinga and in the sequence of res; but there is no doubt that Sabhacandra bus in view the Sula-Yajurveda-sarhatat, XXIV, 22, 27, 28, 20, 21; XXX, 11, 22, 5 ac. Some of the pasgages quoted here are found in earlier texts like the Yasastilchlow-campi of Somadeva,
