Non-restraint (asamyama) is of three kinds - the rise of passions (kasaya) leading to endless mundane existence - anantanubandhi, the rise of passions hindering partial restraint - apratyakhyana, and the rise of passions hindering complete self-discipline - pratyakhyana. The influx of karmas caused by these passions is stopped in their absence.
