________________ 80 Part III. Settlement in Halar developed affection for each other. In spite of poverty, because the people were proud of their heritage, compassionate and kind hearted, they helped each other in time of need. The people were very content. For 250 years in spite of battles and internal conflicts in royal families, the Oshwals lived happily with what they had. Their needs were few. Life went on. But due to the uncertainties of rainfall every two or three years there would be famine, sometimes severe, and people had difficulty in making ends meet. Young people therefore would go to big towns and cities to find work. When they had made enough money they would return.
