द्विजातयः क्षत्रिय-वैश्य-शूद्राः ___ सर्वं खलु स्वोचितकर्मतः स्युः । अस्ति प्रतिष्ठा गुणकर्मयोगे
न जातिमात्राद् गरिमास्पदीस्यात् ॥ ८३ ॥
બ્રાહ્મણ, ક્ષત્રિય, વૈશ્ય, શુદ્ર બધા પિતાના ઉચિત કર્મથી છે. પ્રતિષ્ઠાનું સ્થાન ગુણકમના વેગે છે, જાતિમાત્રથી ગરવ નથી.
A person is a Brahmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra according as he does the work befitting a Brāhmana, Kshatriya, Vaishya or Shudra. His superiority depends on his virtues and deeds. The mere fact that he is born in a higher caste cannot entitle him to greater respect.
