Sankhya phylosophy the object was to teach the end of all suffering and pain ; therefore the Nirvanana of these three philosophies must be not only a state in which there is no pain or suffering, but it also must not contain within itself any clement which might in the long ran give rise to pain or suffering. To know what this negative element should be, we must consider the origin of inisery and pain, according to these three philosophies. “From ignorance come confirniations (Sankhara ), from confirmations comes consciousness (rinnâna); from consciousness come name and corporeal form, from name and corporeal form come the six senses and their objects, from this comes contact, from contact, sensation, from sensation, thirst or desire, from thirst clinging í to existance); from clinging comes being; from being, birth ; from birth come old age and death, pain and lamentation, susering anxiety and despair.” From this
